Wonderful words. And rejuvenated to see that all the people chose to walk out along with Lakshmi Tripathi to bring this disgraceful behavior by Bombay Gym to international criticism.

This was beautifully written. It touches on the inherent structural violence that plagues this city and country from the inside-out. I also appreciate your honesty in recognizing the larger issue at play here - Laxmi is sadly the latest victim of a long history of such acts, once perpetrated by a foreign occupier, and now fully embraced by the local homegrown elites. A sad and shameless "Mutiny" of today's India.

Just another reminder that one of the major challenges for Mumbai as part of it's globalization is ensuring the freedoms of it's citizens. Freedom of speech is hard to talk about in India since our constitution itself frames it in a non-committal way that is completely open to interpretation. Either India has to better define the rights and freedoms of it's citizens, or continue living with the unending discrimination and clampdown on anything that might offend any random person. Sad.
